Works for three violins and bc

First publication of two attractive works for three violins and bc by two of the foremost virtuoso violinists of their day, Thomas Baltzar and Nicola Matteis.

'Mr Baltzar's Consort' -- really a Suite in C, with a very fine opening Pavan and Galliard -- seems to have begun a trend in England that culminated in Purcell's own wonderful contributions to the genre.

Matteis's [Divisions in D minor] are highly original and full of vitality.
