EP7: Judge and revenge my cause, O Lord
A verse-anthem for SAT soli, SAATB chorus and organ by the early-17th-century composer John Holmes (d.1629), reconstructed from the organ score by Ian Payne. It was composed on 24 February 1602/3, while he was organist at Winchester Cathedral. The text is the metrical version of Psalm 43, by Sternhold and Hopkins, and the composer gives coherence to his setting by using related music for each of the three sections.
