EP6: All laud and praise with heart and voice
A highly accomplished verse-anthem for SAT soli, SAATB chorus and organ by the early-17th-century composer John Holmes (d.1629), reconstructed from the organ score by Ian Payne. It was composed on 22 April 1603, while he was organist at Winchester Cathedral. Holmes set verses from Sternhold and Hopkins's metrical version of Psalm 30 (also set by Thomas Weelkes) in a melodious style well suited to the short, rhyming phrases of the text.
