EP2: Bow down thine ear, O Lord
A verse anthem for solo Tenor, SAATB chorus and organ by the seventeenth-century English composer John Ward (d.1638), reconstructed from the three surviving vocal parts in York Minster Library, by Ian Payne. One of the work's most attractive features is its simple and effect solo part, which contrasts with rich and sonorous five-part chorus sections. The text is from Psalm 86.
